Catrine, town, Sorn par., mid. Ayrshire, on river Ayr, 2½ miles SE. of Mauchline sta. and 50 miles SW. of Edinburgh, pop. 2638; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; has cotton factory and bleachfield; 1 mile W. of town, across river Ayr, is Catrine House.
