Slamannan, Falkirk

Slamannan is a village in the south of the Falkirk council area in Central Scotland. It is 4.6 miles south-west of Falkirk, 6.0 miles east of Cumbernauld and 7.1 miles north-east of Airdrie. Slamannan is located at the cross of the B803 and B8022 roads, near the banks of the River Avon, close to the border between Falkirk and North Lanarkshire councils. At the time of the 2001 census, Slamannan had a population of 1,398 residents.

Slamannan, par., quoad sacra par., and vil. with ry. sta., Stirlingshire - par., 70G2 ac.,pop. 5850; quoad sacra par., partly also in Falkirk par., pop. 6428; vil., near river Avon, 5½ miles SW. of Falkirk and 17½ NE. of Glasgow, pop. (including Blinkbonny) 1225; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; extensive coal and ironstone mines are in the vicinity.
