Boothtown, Calderdale

Boothtown is a suburb of Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Located on the A647 Halifax to Bradford. It was on this road that Percy Shaw came up with the idea of cat's eyes as an aid to road safety. The former home of Col Edward Akroyd now the Bankfield Museum and library also houses the Regimental museum of The Duke of Wellington's Regiment. On 27 March 2011 a suspected burglar was rescued after becoming trapped in a 30ft (9m) well at St Thomas' Church in Claremount Road, Boothtown.
