Flockton, Kirklees

Flockton is a village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England halfway between Huddersfield and Wakefield. It has a population of 1,410 (2006 estimate). It is 7 miles (11 km) east of Huddersfield and 7.5 miles (12 km) west of Wakefield. The village extends along the A637 Barnsley Road. Flockton is close to Grange Moor. Flockton was known for its "abundance of coal" but the coal mines in the area are no longer open.
