Kippax, Leeds

Kippax is a village and civil parish in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, West Yorkshire, England. It is situated in the east of the city, near to Garforth and Great Preston. The Kippax and Methley ward of Leeds City Council is currently in the UK Parliament constituency of Elmet, which will become Elmet and Rothwell at the next UK general election. Kippax was a separate civil parish, in Tadcaster Rural District, until 1939, when it was annexed to Garforth.

Kippax, par., township, and vil., with ry. sta., E. div. West-Riding Yorkshire, on eminence near river Aire, 3½ miles NW. of Pontefract and 9½ miles SE. of Leeds--par., 5600 ac. (including part of Ledsham par.), pop. 5658; township, 1632 ac., pop. 2533; P.O.; malting is carried on, and extensive coal mines are in viciuity; Kippax Park, seat, is near the vil.
