Market Bosworth, Leicestershire

Market Bosworth is a small market town and civil parish in Leicestershire, England. At the time of the 2001 Census, the parish, including the hamlet of Far Coton, had a total population of 1,906. Until 1974 it contained the offices of Market Bosworth Rural District, which was merged in that year with the Hinckley Rural District to form the district of Hinckley and Bosworth.

Market Bosworth, market town, par., and township, Leicestershire, 7¾ miles NE. of Nuneaton and 104 NW. of London by rail - par., 7449 ac., pop. 3978; township, pop. 881; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Wednesday. Market Bosworth has a grammar school of 1593, at which Dr Johnson was usher; 2 miles S. of the town is Bosworth Field, where in 1485 Richard III. was defeated by the Earl of Richmond (afterwards Henry VIL).
