Thoresby.-- hamlet, Edwinstowe par., Notts, 2 miles NW. of Ollerton. Thoresby Hall, seat of Earl Manvers, stands in a park of 10 miles in circuit; the original mansion, built in the 17th century, was the birthplace of Lady Mary Wortley Montague (1690-1762).
