Kemerton, Worcestershire

Kemerton is a village and civil parish in Worcestershire in England. It lies at the extreme south of the county in the local government district of Wychavon. Until boundary changes in 1931, it formed part of neighbouring Gloucestershire, and it remains in the Diocese of Gloucester. The northern half of the parish lies within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Kemerton, par. and vil., in N. of Gloucestershire, 5 miles NE. of Tewkesbury, 1590 ac., pop. 484; P.O., T.O.; near the vil. is a quarry of excellent freestone; the par. contains the seat of Kemerton Court.

KEMERTON, a parish, in the union, and Lower division of the hundred, of Tewkesbury, E. division of the county of Gloucester, 4½ miles (N. E.) from Tewkesbury; containing 561 inhabitants. The parish contains an excellent quarry of freestone; and several petrifying springs. The living is a rectory, valued in the king's books at £17. 13. 1¾.; net income, £503; patrons, the Corporation of Gloucester: the tithes were commuted for land and a money payment in 1772. The church was rebuilt in the year 1847. There are places of worship for Wesleyans.
