Sutton Coldfield is a town that forms an affluent middle class suburb within the city of Birmingham, in the West Midlands of England. It lies about 8 miles northeast of Birmingham City Centre and borders North Warwickshire, Lichfield, Erdington, Streetly, Kingstanding and Castle Vale. In 2001, it had a population of 105,000. Historically in Warwickshire, it became part of Birmingham and the West Midlands in 1974.

Sutton Coldfield, market town and par. with ry. sta., Warwickshire, 7 miles NE. of Birmingham - par. (containing Boldmere), 1303 ac., pop. 7737; town, pop. 3301; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Monday. Sutton Goldfield is a town of great antiquity, and was a borough by prescription, incorporated by charter from Henry VIII. The church, enlarged and ornamented in the reign of Henry VII., is a handsome structure; there are also a town-hall, a market-house, and an endowed free school. The mfr. of hardware goods forms the principal industry, and there is trade in agricultural produce. Sutton Chase is a public park of 3500 ac.
