Alvediston, Wiltshire

Alvediston is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, with a population of 91 (2001 census). It is about eight miles east of Shaftesbury. It is the source of the River Ebble. Anthony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon, who served as prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1955 to 1957 and won the 1955 general election for the Conservatives, was buried in St Mary's churchyard in the village after his death in January 1977.
