Worstead, Norfolk

Worstead is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It lies 3 miles south of North Walsham, 5 miles north of Wroxham, and 13 miles north of Norwich. The village is served by Worstead railway station on the Bittern Line. The civil parish has an area of 10.65 kmĀ² and in the 2001 census had a population of 862 in 365 households. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of North Norfolk.

Worstead, par. and vil., Norfolk - par., 2603 ac., pop. 765; vil., 4 miles S. of North Walsham; P.O., T.O.; is an ancient place, settled by Flemish weavers in the 12th century, and gave its name to the woollen yarn, worsted. The church is a 14th century building. Worstead Hall, seat, is in vicinity.
