Bapchild, Kent

Bapchild, originally Baccanceld, is a village and civil parish in the Swale district of Kent, England, about two miles east of Sittingbourne. It lies on the A2, and according to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 1,068. According to a late seventh or early eighth century charter, the Synod of Baccanceld was held in Bapchild, but historians now believe that the charter is a forgery.
